Keloids readily occur in the earlobe even though it is an area of low
tension. This provides a clue as to the cause of keloids. Therefore, we
distributed a questionnaire to all the subjects that received treatment
for keloids located around the earlobe in our department, and performed
various statistical analyses. The subjects investigated were patients
(195 parts, 135 cases) who had received treatment in our department from
1988 to 2005. One hundred parts of 84 patients could be extracted. The
anterior diameter (A) and posterior diameter (P) of all keloids were
measured. In this investigation, the rates for A and P A>P for 3 parts,
A=P for 7 parts and A<P for 90 parts. In our investigation, it became
evident thatearlobe keloids tend to grow from theposterior area. |
